Date: 29. August 2011 Location: Gruissan, Gulf of Lion (Mediterranean Sea), France. Species: Thresher shark ( Alopias vulpinus ). Size: 4.30 metres in length, 185 kg (407.855 lb). 2011 Shark Scramble Tournament in Canada
Location: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada . Date: 17. – 20. August 2011. 122 anglers participated in the tournament, 13 fishermen more than in the previous year. Shark Year Magazine, 18 August 2011. Fifteen-year-old Ethan Lynch may have broken a state record by catching a huge blue shark (Prionace glauca) off Newburyport in Essex County, Massachusetts.
