Philippines: Rare megamouth shark surfaces in CDO waters

A 12-foot-long specimen of the very rare megamouth shark was found dead off Barangay Bayabas in Cagayan de Oro City last weekend.

The shark got tangled in the net of fisherman Jojo Cabatuan last Saturday (21. March 2015), GMA Northern Mindanao reported Monday. It represents the 67th documented specimen of this shark species in the world. Local residents buried the shark.

Last January, another Philippine megamouth shark (the 66th specimen) measuring 15 feet died off Albay as you can see in the related News-Video here .
