Megamouth shark ( Megachasma pelagios ) dies in Albay after getting trapped in net

A 15-ft megamouth shark has died after getting trapped in a fishing net for several hours at Barangay Marigondon, Pio Duran, Albay on Wednesday, January 28.

Nonie Enolva, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Regional Emergency Stranding Response Team head, said the megamouth shark is the 66th documented in the world and 15th in the Philippines. It is an endangered species. ( Source: Michael Jaucian, GMA Network ).
