Results of the 2014 Star Island Shark Tournament

28th Annual Star Island Yacht Club Shark Tournament

Location: Star Island Yacht Club & Marina, Montauk, New York, USA.
Date: 12. – 14. June 2014

116 boats (other source: 117) participated in this year’s Star Island Shark Tournament in Montauk.

During the two days of fishing, an exceptional high number of fourteen Thresher sharks, nine Mako sharks (other source: 8 Makos) and a couple of Blue sharks were landed and brought to the weigh-in station.

A 377 lbs Thresher shark was the overall winner of the tournament. This catch was made by George Walters on the ‘Reel Deal’.

The heaviest Mako was a 281-pounder landed by the crew of ‘Alyssa Ann’. But a larger specimen ( 390 lbs ) did not qualify because the crew couldn’t make it back to the weigh-in station in time.
