June 2014, the U.S. West Coast limited entry groundfish trawl fishery was awarded MSC certification as a sustainable and well-managed fishery, following an independent, scientific assessment and significant stakeholder involvement. The certification applies to 13 species, including the first MSC certified skate species: Longnose Skates (Raja rhina).
