Report of a new shark attack on a surfer in Uruguay

REPORTE SOBRE UN NUEVO ATAQUE DE TIBURON (Elasmobranchii: Carcharhinidae) A UN SURFISTA EN COSTAS DE URUGUAY

ABSTRACT:

A new shark attack (Carcharhinidae) is reported for the coasts of the department of Maldonado, Uruguay. The circumstances of the accident are described and the available information on the attack and the wounds produced is analyzed in order to tentatively identify the aggressor species.

RESUMEN:

Se reporta un nuevo ataque de tiburón (Carcharhinidae) para las costas del departamento de Maldonado, Uruguay. Se describen las circunstancias del accidente y se analiza la información disponible sobre el ataque y las heridas producidas de modo de identificar tentativamente a la especie agresora.
