Bodyboarder killed in shark incident off Reunion Island

A bodyboarder has died this morning after being bit by a shark off Reunion Island.

According to local authorities, the 26-years old victim (Alexandre N.) was bitten on his abdomen and left arm. The water conditions were said to be murky.

The incident occurred shortly after 9am near the mouth of the Rivière du Mât in the commune of Saint-André which is located on the northeast part of the island. Swimming and other water activities are prohibited at this location.
