What is the Atlantic HMS SAFE Report?
The Stock Assessment and Fishery Evaluation (SAFE) Report contains a review of the current status of Atlantic highly migratory species (HMS) stocks (tunas, swordfish, billfishes, and sharks), describes the year’s accomplishments in managing Atlantic HMS fisheries, and provides information on management of Atlantic HMS fisheries. The SAFE Report provides Atlantic HMS fishery constituents with information on the latest developments in Atlantic HMS management and fulfills Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act requirements.
