Local media sources are reporting that a man has died following a shark attack in New Caledonia on Saturday, 09. May 2015.
The incident took place near Kouaré which is an islet located in the south of the archipelago.
According to media reports, the man was bitten repeatedly ( two to three times ) by what is believed to be a bull or tiger shark.
The victim, a man in his fifties who participated in a weekend-long trip to the small island, did not survive the severe injuries to his arm and leg.
Yesterday’s incident occurred just 10 days after another fatal shark attack in the Pacific region, when a woman died after suffering a shark bite off Maui, Hawaii ( here ).
