In the bay of Bengal of Bangladesh region shark fisheries exploitation, trade, conservation and management

ABSTRACT:

The study was conducted during July, 2003 to June, 2013 about total landing volumes of shark fishery (sharks and rays) data were analyzed (not in species wise) in artisanal and industrial fishing sector of Bangladesh. In artisanal fisheries gill nets (shark nets), set bag nets, long lines and trammel nets are engaged to exploiting sharks and rays. In industrial fisheries harvesting of shark fishery data were started and records were keeping from 2012-13 period. During 2012-13 total landed sharks and rays contributes only 0.85% (5017 MT) in total the marine fish production of Bangladesh. ( … )
