Florida: Individual to appear before judge for possession of undersized shark

Officers Matthews and Vacin were on patrol in the area of the John Lloyd State Park Jetty and were conducting marine fisheries inspections. One individual was exiting from the jetty and was observed having several coolers and fishing equipment. Officer Vacin conducted a marine fisheries inspection on the individual. The person was found to be in possession of a nurse shark. The nurse shark was grossly undersized. With information gathered, Officer Vacin issued the individual a criminal notice to appear before a judge. Officer Matthews was able to get the shark back into the water from the beach and released it alive.
