Distressed blue shark approaches beach in Sardinia, Italy

A distressed blue shark (Prionace glauca) was reportedly ‘rescued’ by a group of beachgoers at the beach of Liscia near Palau in the Province of Olbia-Tempio, northern Sardinia, Italy (date: 23. August 2015). They dragged the shark by its caudal fin onto the beach and removed a fishing hook from its jaws. Shortly afterwards, the animal was released back into the sea.
