Fatal shark attack – Ballina

A man has died after he was pulled from a beach suffering fatal injuries believed to be from a shark attack on the state’s north coast this morning.

Just before 10am (Monday 9 February 2015), a group of surfers assisted an injured man from the water at Shelley Beach.

First aid was administered however the man died.

The man has not been identified at this stage.

A crime scene has been established and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Beaches have been closed between South Ballina and Lennox Head.
