17th Annual Yarmouth Shark Scramble

Location: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Date: 13.- 16. August 2014

Fourteen boats gathered in Yarmouth to compete in the 2014 Shark Scramble.
The participating anglers brought several sharks with a total weight of 8,430 lbs ( or 3,824 kg ) to the scale,
over 5,300 lbs less than in the preceding year when 5 more boats had entered the tourney (see 2013 Results here).

This year, Matthew Bollivar reeled in a 445 lbs mako shark which topped the ranking list of the competition.
Following in 2nd and 3rd place were two large blue sharks of over 400 lbs in weight.

The landed sharks were examined and dissected by scientists from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography.
It is reported that one mako ( presumably the 1st Place fish ) had the remains of a young dolphin in its stomach,
as you can see in the embedded video below.

Weight: 409 lbs ( 186 kg )
Angler: Trevan McNicol
Boat: Matador
