Great White Shark allegedly caught in the Russian Far East – August 2014

Species: Great white shark ( Carcharodon carcharias )
Size: said to be 5 m long, 1 ton in weight.

Russian fishermen reportedly caught an adult Great white shark ( Carcharodon carcharias ) off the coast of Sakhalin which is an island in the North Pacific Ocean.

The footage was uploaded on Youtube on 31. August 2014.

According to local media reports (e.g. citysakh ru ), the catch occurred on 27. August in the waters of Cape Crillon, located on the southernmost point of Sakhalin. The large predator became entangled in a fishing net that was deployed about 300 metres from shore. It is reported that the shark measured about 5 metres in length and its weight was estimated at over 1.000 kg.
