Video uploaded by Calyn Koh on 15. February 2013 :

This is a mini-documentary focusing on the shark fin soup controversy that has taken the world by storm. We uncover and present to you the two sides of this issue.  Directed and produced by a team of three final year students (Calyn Koh, Cheryl Ong, Kimberley Pereira) from the Diploma in Communications and Media Management, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore. With special thanks to our narrator Nicholas Yeo, our tutor Ms Angela Chee, MPA (Marine Products Association Singapore) and not forgetting Blue Sphere Media, for giving us permission to use your footage. Credits to their respective owners and as stated in the video.

Actually there are two sides of the fin.
One is the people who catch sharks and take their fins.
The similar people are to eat those fins.

Second are the sharks that try to survive this massacre.

You have to ask the question. Who owns the fins ?
The shark or the people who catch them.

If the Chinese decide to have the tradition to eat human hands, will you give your hands away for them to eat ? What if they cut your hands without asking you and you are killed at the end ? Nobody dares to compare because they are just sharks… A creation of nature and we can kill and destroy them as we wish.
If the fining trend continues in just 10 years there will be no more sharks to fulfill their tradition. Then what ? Your hands ?
Claiming people kill the sharks to eat is idiotic to most of the worlds nations. Before the shark fin trade there were many many nations which did not kill or catch sharks at all. But today there are very few sharks in those nations coastal waters. Sharks are easy catch, someone suddenly started to pay for the parts of them.

Chinese have a tradition to eat dogs as well. They still eat thousands of dogs a day. Yes, the same dogs that you keep in your house as pets. Will you give your dog away for them to fulfill their traditional needs ?

But you let them eat the shark fin because it is not your pet…Who created the shark and who created the dog ? Actually the real question is who created us to be so wild and cruel?
I am absolutely sure that God did not create us to wipe out all ecosystem of this wonderful planet. So what is really wrong with people… Not all Chinese people are like this. Why they do not step up and talk. Argue against this wild behavior. ?
    Why can’t we change ?

It is my understanding that Blue Shere Media did NOT give permission for their footage to be used. Additionally, at least one version of this includes the Shark Savers’ logo which it should not. Shark Savers is not associated with this video.
