Shark Meat Sausage in Turkey

Sucuk is a dry, spicy sausage that is very popular in Turkey.

It usually consists of ground meat (beef). But in last December, the owner of a fish restaurant in Bursa city had the idea to use shark meat as an ingredient for this traditional Turkish sausage.

The shark in question is a bluntnose sixgill shark that had been caught off Canakkale in late November. It’s the Specimen No. 12 in our post about recent noteworthy Shark Records from the Mediterranean Sea ( see HERE ).

In the local media, the restaurant owner claims that shark meat is very healthy and „good against cancer“.        He also says that he has already received several orders for his shark sausage, despite the expensive price.
