The following two Elasmobranch catches have been submitted to the
International Game Fish Association (IGFA) for world record recognition.

Date: 12. January 2012

Location: Kaipara Harbor, New Zealand.

Species: Short-tailed stingray ( Dasyatis brevicaudata ).

Size: 111 lbs 12 oz in weight, 106 cm in length.

Angler Sue Tindale caught the specimen, using a mullet as bait.
This catch is a potential IGFA all-tackle record.

Date: 08. February 2012

Location: Kaipara Harbor, New Zealand.

Species: Hammerhead shark (Sphyrna spp.)

Size: 4 lbs 6 oz in weight, 61 cm in length.

The catch was made by the same angler (bait: mullet). Judging from the photo,
it’s most likely a young smooth hammerhead shark (Sphyrna zygaena).
It represents a potential new IGFA record in the women’s 03 kg (6 lb) line-class category.
