Date:  26. February 2012.

Location:  Islamorada, Florida Keys, USA.

Species:  Shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus).

Weight:   348.4 kg ( 768 lbs. ).

The specimen was caught by the crew of the charter boat ‘Captain Cadillac’ (skippered by Capt. Billy Chapman ) about 25 miles off shore.

According to the source, the mako was feeding on a dead swordfish carcass when they successfully managed to ‘hook’ the predator. The angler reeled in the shark to the side of the boat after a four hours battle on 80 lbs test line.

The weigh-in took place at World Wide Sportsman Marina in Islamorada. Randy Helf, owner of the ‘Captain Cadillac’, donated all the meat to anyone who wanted some.
