Dead basking shark found on beach in Canada

Location: Shelburne County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Species: Basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus).
Size: said to be 22 feet in length.
The specimen washed up near Locke’s Island at the head of Jordan Bay last week.
According to Warren Joyce, of the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, it is unusual
for a basking shark to occur in such northern waters at this time of the year.
