Big Mako Sharks caught in Californian Waters
Notice on two big mako shark catches made by recreational fishermen
off southern California.

Location: Marina del Rey, Los Angeles County, California
Species: Shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus)
Size: estimated 800 to 900 lbs in weight.
Sportfishermen caught this huge mako shark about 15 miles off the coast and brought it into Marina del Rey,
located in Los Angeles County. It is reported that the shark was too big for the dock’s scale to handle.

Location: Huntington Harbor, Orange County, California.
Species: Shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus).
Size: 575 lbs in weight
The mako was caught by anglers in the waters off Catalina Island, using mackerel as bait.
