USF partners with Mote Marine Lab to tag sharks

USFchannel, 13.11.2011:

SARASOTA, FL — A few USF marine biology undergraduate students did more than just watch when joining their professor and the Mote Marine Laboratory on a shark expedition.

They were put to work.

110 hooks later — 10 individually spiked lures and 100 hooks on a mile-long line — the students found themselves pulling in all types of sharks on board. From blacktips to bull sharks, the crew caught nine sharks in all during an 11-hour excursion in the Gulf of Mexico.
