Goblin Shark caught in Brazil

Location: Brazil.

Species: Goblin shark (Mitsukurina owstoni), male.

Size: 2.30 metres in length.

The rare shark was caught by the fishing vessel ‘Gunnar Vingrenn III’
off the coast of Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state in Brazil,
in waters about 400 metres deep.
The specimen was donated to the ‘Museu Oceanográfico da Universidade
Federal do Rio Grande (Furg)’.
