France: Dead Hammerhead Shark found in Mediterranean Sea

According to the French media,

the carcass of a big hammerhead shark (Sphyrna spp.) was found on the shore of a small cove

at Cap Corse, a 40 km long peninsula located at the northern part of Corsica Island.

The badly decomposed shark, which was reported to be 4 metres in length, was discovered on 4th July 2011.

Unfortunately, the source does not provide a photo to confirm the species identity and size of the dead creature.

They dumped the carcass after the local veterinary service took samples of the specimen.
