Basking Shark landed in Italy

Date: reported (source) on 04. November 2011,

but youtube video (below) uploaded on 1st November.

Location: Torre del Greco, Province of Naples, Campania, Italy.

Species: Basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus), male.

Size: said to be about 8 metres in length, ca. 500 kg,

          (the reported length must be an overestimate).

The fisherman found the basker already dead in the net.

Local experts took the shark’s head for further examinations.
