538 Pound Thresher Shark Caught at Monster Shark Tournament- Oak Bluffs (07-22-11)

Officials from the 25th Annual Monster Shark Tournament weigh a 538 pound Thresher shark at the town dock on Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard Friday ( 07-22-11 ) afternoon. The Thresher was caught by a crew on the fishing boat “Tuna Tangler Too”. Despinte warm temperatures, hundreds of people showed up for the event to get an up-close view of large sharks. The other sharks caught during the tournament included a 365 pound Thresher shark caught by the fishing crew on board the fishing boat “Knot Right”. Another fishing crew also caught a Makko shark. The annual event, which is sponsored by the Boston Big Game Fishing Club, wraps up on Saturday.
