A giant shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) was caught by a group of Miami bankers participating in a Florida International University alumni tournament.

The incident occurred about 16 miles off Elliot Key, which is the northernmost of the Florida Keys.

It took the seven men, guided by “Wound Up” Boat Captain John Dudas, over four hours to reel in the 1000-pound shark.

The men sent the shark’s jaw to a taxidermist and divided the meat.
