San Diego Great White Shark Sighting and Beach Closure

missionbeachblogs.com – A second shark sighting closed down Mission Beach from the Mission Beach jetti to Santa Clara Place. On August 25th a 18″ dorsel fin was spotted and August 26th a 14 inch dosel fin was spotted. Although not officially confirmed local shark experts suspect both dorsel fins to those of Great White Sharks which are known to frequent the California coastline. The shark sightings prompted lifeguards to close down the beach to swimmers marking the first time in known history Mission Beach has been closed because of shark sightings. San Diego beaches including La Jolla have had Great White shark sightings and closures in the past.
