Video: Great white shark in Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, Japan

The video was uploaded by the ‘Okinawa Times official video channel’ on 06. January 2016.

The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium presents a  great white shark (Carcharhodon carcharias) to the public at its facility in southwestern Japan.

The male specimen measures about 3.5 metres in length and was reportedly caught off Yomitan, a village located in Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

Termination of Great White Shark exhibition

We are going to announce termination of Great White Shark exhibition. We had been displayed the shark in “the Sea of dangerous sharks” tank from January 5th, 2016 but, the shark’s condition took a sudden turn worse and we confirmed its dead January 8th. (Published by Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium ).

    Seems purely sadistic keeping great white with tiger nad bull shark among all the other in such small tank. And presumably knowing that the great white still failed to be introduced into captivity. If they were looking forward to succed why didn’t the provide a separate, spacious tank? Most Great whites are social, but solitary. Looks like they hoped to make some good money on the exhibition. Shame the animal got wasted…
