1st Annual Warriors for Warriors Charity Shark Tournament 2014

Location: Crystal Point Yacht Club, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, USA.
Date: 13. – 14. June 2014

A total of 43 boats took part in the first Warriors for Warriors Charity Shark Tournament, held at the Crystal Point Yacht Club in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

The fishing tournament has been established as an annual fundraiser for charities that support the needs of US military veterans. In this year, the event raised $40,000 for ‘Operation Restored Warrior’ (ORW), an organization focused on helping to prevent veteran suicide.

1st Place:
Species: Mako shark ( Isurus oxyrinchus )
Weight: 242.1 lbs
Angler: Billy Rempfer
Boat: Hard to Catch

2nd Place:
Species: Mako shark ( Isurus oxyrinchus )
Weight: 200.3 lbs
Angler: Chuck Brooks
Boat: Kingfisher

First Mako over 175 lbs:
Boat: Sweet Melissa

    Why do animals have to die for charity?  Killing to prevent suicide?  Your tournament should be catch and release.  Same outcome and the shark isn’t killed and the money is raised to prevent vet suicide either way.
