Dead Great White Shark found beached in Rhode Island

The carcass of a great white shark Carcharodon carcharias washed ashore in Westport (Rhode Island)
on Saturday, September 1st.

Gary Severa spotted the fish in the surf while he was fishing at Brayton Point. The angler used his fishing
rod to estimate the length of the shark. The male specimen turned out to be about 13 feet long.

Mr. Severa reported it to the police. As a result of the find, Goosewing Beach and South Shore Beach
are currently closed to swimming.
